The Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (TARE) Void: Pathways for the socioeconomic and environmental inclusion of smallholder farming

This study produced by Solidaridad highlights the trajectory of public policies for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (TARE) in Brazil from the 1940s, showing how it was at the mercy of changes in government. The document mentions the work that private and civil society organizations have been doing to guarantee access to a continuous TARE for smallholder farmers – which generates better production and living conditions -, but reinforces the importance of consolidating a public, free, and qualified TARE service.
